Toy Certification Requirements in Brazil (2026)
- All toys for children under 14 require INMETRO certification before import or sale (Portaria INMETRO No. 302/2021 and related ordinances).
- Technical requirements follow ABNT NBR NM 300 (aligned with ISO 8124).
- Certification is issued through an accredited OCP (certification body): document review, laboratory testing of samples, factory/process assessment depending on the model.
- Products must be registered in the INMETRO system and carry the INMETRO conformity mark with identification numbers, plus Portuguese labeling (age grading, warnings, importer data).
- Plan ahead: certification typically takes 3–6 months. Existing ILAC-accredited lab reports can sometimes shorten testing. Non-certified toys are detained at port.
